Lasantha Amarakoon is a seasoned business strategist and educational leader whose career spans over two decades, marked by significant accomplishments and leadership roles in strategic planning, operational management, and educational development. With a proven track record of fostering innovative, forward-thinking leadership in diverse team environments, Lasantha’s expertise has significantly impacted the sectors he has been involved with.

As the Chief Operating Officer of the Royal Institute Colombo and Royal Institute International School from 2022 to November 2023, Lasantha demonstrated exceptional operational and strategic leadership across five international school branches, managing over 4500 students from kindergarten to advanced level, and a graduate school with more than 1000 undergraduates and postgraduate students. His ability to work seamlessly with academic and non-academic staff to meet student intake targets, coupled with his close collaborations with prestigious international and local educational institutions, showcases his strategic insight and dedication to educational excellence.

Before this role, Lasantha served as the Country Director for UK, Europe, & Sri Lanka at a leading UK education firm from 2021 to March 2022. In this capacity, he was responsible for managing and directing the operations of the firm, achieving significant milestones in student placement and developing strategic partnerships that enhanced the firm’s brand and service offerings.

His tenure as Head of Brands & Strategy at The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka from 2008 to March 2020 highlights his adeptness in brand strategy and marketing, where he led the development and implementation of marketing plans that consistently outpaced the competition.

Lasantha’s marketing acumen was further honed in roles at Toyo Cushions Pvt Limited, Lankem Robiallac Ltd, and Dankotuwa Porcelain PLC, where he was instrumental in driving brand growth, international market penetration, and product launches that resulted in substantial revenue increases and market share expansion.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Lasantha has shared his knowledge and insights as a visiting faculty member at various prestigious institutions over two decades, teaching Marketing Research, Marketing Management, and Business Strategy. This experience underlines his commitment to nurturing the next generation of business leaders.

Lasantha holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, and a Master of Business Studies from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, with a Merit Pass. His academic credentials are complemented by a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the UK, membership in the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM, UK), and executive education from INSEAD’s Global Leadership Programme.
